Behind The

Scenes

You don’t want them to exist but you know they do and they could be anywhere. Lisa Norris who Played Cathy the Caravan Lady had a reason to get into acting. She felt she was quite shy and needed to overcome this trait and turned to acting classes. She told me afterwards that Pizzaman had been a great conduit for her development. It surprised me greatly as she comes across so confidently and self-assured it was a pleasure watching her craft the character.

Originally a non-actor I felt she could be up there with the greats if she put her mind to it. She told me she jumped for joy on hearing she’d got the part. Since Pizzaman I’ve worked with her on almost every short film I’ve directed since.

On to episode 10: the quickie. Poignant, punchy and funny, Taj finally takes the reigns of his life by confronting his demons.

The final scene was the second use of the same location, the only one we duplicated and hope we got away with it. (Can you spot which episode it appears in again?)

The doorstep belongs to Martin Flynn the guy who plays Muckle in Pizzaman. We were there very late in the evening trying to keep the noise down but subsequently failed. I remember it was a logistical nightmare having three actors in such awkward places. Shadows from the lights we had were everywhere and no matter how we did it we felt we were ‘crossing the line’ (breaking the 180 degree rule) every time. People were tired here and pulling the performance up was the ever enduring Sunny, stalwart to the last.

Tell the world!
